Fees

Visufund is a private limited company registered in England and Wales (company registration number 10141346). Our registered office is at 20-22 Wenlock Road, London, England, N1 7GU.

It is completely free for anyone to publish a page on our platform using a template from our library. In order to provide this unique visual fundraising service, we deduct a fee of 3.9% from donations to cover our costs.

An example of how this works, based on a £10 donation to a UK charity, is shown below:

Our platform fee of 3.9% also applies to donations to charities outside of the UK, although payment processing fees may vary by country.

Why we deduct a platform fee

What we do is completely different from other online fundraising platforms, and that’s why charities choose to work with us. Designing interactive visual fundraising pages that give you the opportunity to put your stamp on a picture and share your story takes skill, time and effort. We worked out that it would be more cost effective for the charity sector if there was one team who had the skills to do this for everyone, rather than for each charity to commission their own team to build, code, develop and design pages, which would cost thousands of pounds to every charity.

We don't charge any subscription fees or joining costs, as we recognise that this can make online fundraising platforms unaffordable to small charities. By simply deducting a small fee from donations, rather than charging upfront costs, we are able to take all the risk away from our charity members - we only make money when they do.

We use this fee to cover our costs, which includes:

  • Monitoring and maintaining this website
  • Responding to queries and providing support to charities and individual fundraisers
  • Keeping up-to-date with best practice and regulatory changes
  • Designing more templates and developing new facilities to make the experience better every time you visit

In the interest of being completely transparent, we also offer entirely optional costed products to our charity members. This is not a requirement of a charity joining Visufund. Any charity, large or small, is completely welcome to use our free designs to create as many pages as they wish.

Payment processing fees (Stripe)

When you donate on Visufund, your donation is sent directly to a Stripe account owned by the charity you are supporting. Your payment is not held by Visufund at any time. We've chosen to work with Stripe to process donations, as their transaction fee is extremely competitive and they do not charge our charity members any fixed costs to have an account. This makes it a very cost-effective and secure way for you to donate to your favourite cause.

  • UK & European credit/debit cards - 1.4% + 20p per transaction
  • Non-European credit/debit cards - 2.9% + 20p per transaction

How you can be sure that your donation is safe

We have a procedure called ‘KYC’ (Know Your Customer) to verify the identity of any new charity who joins us, which means they have to prove that they are who they say they are. We accept registrations from registered charities in our supported countries; all their contact information is displayed in ‘About Page’ in the ‘Charity’ section, which you can use to perform your own checks.

We welcome supporters who wish to raise money for a charitable cause they care about. The funds raised through these pages are sent directly to the charity, and so the same background checks apply as above.

Our payment processor, Stripe, also has its own strict verification process to onboard new accounts for charities, to prevent fraud and money laundering activity. Because your donation is sent directly to a charity-owned Stripe account when you donate through Visufund, you can rest assured that your money is safe and processed securely. Stripe is a PCI Service Provider Level 1, which is the highest grade of payment processing security.

If you have any doubts or concerns, we advise you not to donate and to contact us if you want to report a suspicious page.
